Kara’s Interview
How long have you work for Fraser Technologies?
I have worked at Fraser Technologies for 13 years, starting in June 2010 after a 10-year career as a credit controller spanning across both the banking and recruitment industries.
How has your career developed here at Fraser Technologies?
I joined Fraser Tech in a part time bookkeeping position and was quickly offered the role as the Office Manager and Financial Controller as a result of my career knowledge and driven personality. I worked in this position for 9 years improving my skills and driving change and improvement within the business before starting my current role as a Director of Finance and Operations, in 2019, working alongside the MD, a role which has enabled me to further improve my skills and influence strategic decisions within the business.
What role do you now play in Fraser Technologies?
As the Director of Finance and Operations within the business I have responsibilities across various areas of the company. As part of my financial role, I oversee all accountancy and Cashflow of the business through to year-end accounts in addition to ensuring compliance with HMRC standards. The operations side of my role involves overseeing the logistics and stock as well as monitoring health & safety and managing the operational processes. I also take responsibility for improving these processes by identifying areas which could be enhanced to increase productivity to promote a leaner business. I currently manage all the office staff offering line management support, training, and mentoring to enable their growth and improvement within the business. As a Director I also regularly liaise with the MD to discuss Business Risks and strategic decisions for the future of the business.
What do you enjoy about your role?
I consider myself a problem solver and thoroughly enjoy the process improvement side of my role. I find it rewarding to investigate and identify areas within the processes which could be improved, whether that be through the introduction of new software or streamlining a long process to make it leaner, as it gives me the opportunity to influence change and see the results of my work. I also enjoy managing the office team and supporting them as they grow and develop within their careers.

I enjoy working for Fraser Technologies, as a prominent business within the growing, innovative chemical manufacturing industry. In my role as the Director of Finance and Operations I have a direct influence on improving areas of the business and strategic decisions and feel proud to be a driver of change within a customer-focused company in the industry.
