Controlled aqueous cleaning processes, repeatable results and advanced technical cleanliness.
Fraser Technologies is pleased to introduce the Miele ExpertLine PLW 8636, a professional precision industrial cleaning machine designed for spray-in-air aqueous cleaning of industrial parts.
The PLW 8636 brings together a compact powerful aqueous cleaning, precise process control, comprehensive monitoring and advanced drying in a single system.
For manufacturers operating in applications where technical cleanliness is increasingly important, the focus is not simply on whether a component appears clean. The cleaning process needs to be controlled, measurable and repeatable.
The PLW 8636 has been designed around precisely those requirements.
What is the Miele ExpertLine PLW 8636?
The PLW 8636 [IPC] is Miele’s ExpertLine cleaning machine for industrial parts cleaning using a spray-in-air aqueous cleaning process.
It is designed for use across a range of industries and component types, including electronics, optical instruments and glass, medical technology, metalworking, watch and jewellery manufacturing, high-purity applications and 3D printing.
Its combination of programmable controls, variable-speed circulation, process monitoring and flexible dispensing allows the cleaning process to be configured around the requirements of the application.
Precision cleaning starts with process control
A precision cleaning process needs to do more than remove contamination.
It needs to produce a consistent result across repeated cycles.
The compact PLW 8636 uses a fresh-water system for ultrafine cleaning of precision parts. Optimised spray arms work with the powerful circulation pump to provide reliable cleaning, including at maximum load. Precise dosing pumps and sensors support accurate dosing and monitoring.
This combination is intended to provide reliable and reproducible technical cleanliness.
Variable cleaning pressure for different components
The machine’s variable-speed circulation pump has a maximum circulation rate of 600 l/min.
Cleaning pressure can be adapted to the requirements of different components and process steps.
This gives manufacturers greater control over the cleaning process.
Higher cleaning intensity can be applied where contamination demands it, while more sensitive components can be treated with a gentler process.
The result is a cleaning system that can be configured around the component rather than relying on a single fixed cleaning recipe.
Repeatability through programmable cleaning processes
The PLW 8636 provides extensive programming flexibility.
Its PLC is freely programmable, with 26 programmes available from the factory and 50 free customer programme positions.
This means different cleaning processes can be developed for different:
- Component types
- Materials
- Contamination levels
- Cleaning requirements
- Production processes
The system also monitors key process variables including spray pressure, spray arm operation, conductivity and temperature.
For manufacturers, this provides a stronger foundation for controlled and repeatable cleaning, particularly where process consistency is critical.
Advanced drying with HEPA H14 filtration
Cleaning performance cannot be considered in isolation from drying.
The PLW 8636 incorporates the DryPlus drying system, with HEPA H14 filtration. Miele’s technical specification states a HEPA filtration efficiency of 99.99% according to DIN EN 1822.
Drying temperature can be selected between 50°C and 115°C, while drying time can be programmed in one-minute increments.
This provides manufacturers with further control over the overall cleaning and drying process.
Miele identifies the PLW 8636 as providing a basis for high technical cleanliness requirements according to VDA 19 or ISO 16232.
As always, the appropriate cleaning process should be developed and validated for the specific component and cleanliness requirement.
Flexible cleaning and passivation
The PLW 8636 is not limited to a single cleaning process.
Programmes are available for applications including:
- Metal
- Intensive metal cleaning
- Steel
- Intensive steel cleaning
- Anodised aluminium
- Glass
- Plastic
- Passivating
- Box/carrier cleaning
Optional passivation can improve the corrosion resistance of suitable components, potentially extending service life and reducing longer-term replacement and maintenance requirements.
An external recycling tank connection is also available, providing an option for recycling process water where appropriate.
PLW 8636 dimensions and capacity
The PLW 8636 is a compact freestanding industrial cleaning machine with stainless-steel construction.
Its dimensions are:
The usable wash cabinet measures 470 mm high × 530 mm wide, with a lower basket depth of 520 mm.
For installation planning, Miele’s sales documentation specifies 700 mm machine depth plus a 100 mm wall gap.
Applications for the Miele PLW 8636
The PLW 8636 is designed for industrial parts cleaning across a diverse range of applications.
Electronics
Controlled aqueous cleaning for suitable electronic and precision components where contamination removal and repeatability are important.
Optical instruments and glass
For precision optical and glass components requiring controlled cleaning and drying.
Medical technology
For suitable industrial medical technology components where controlled and reproducible cleaning processes are required.
Metalworking
For metal components requiring removal of particulate and film-type manufacturing contamination.
Watch and jewellery manufacturing
For precision components where controlled cleaning parameters and careful treatment are important.
High-purity and 3D printing
For applications where technical cleanliness and controlled removal of manufacturing residues are critical.
A new approach to precision aqueous cleaning
The Miele ExpertLine PLW 8636 is designed to move aqueous cleaning beyond a basic wash-and-rinse process.
Its combination of variable-speed cleaning, programmable processes, precise dosing, process monitoring and HEPA-filtered drying gives manufacturers greater control over the factors that influence cleaning performance.
That matters when cleaning is part of a critical manufacturing process.
The objective is not simply to clean a component once.
It is to establish a cleaning process that can deliver the required result consistently, reproducibly and with the level of process control demanded by modern precision manufacturing.
Fraser Technologies and Miele
As Miele’s UK sole partner, Fraser Technologies can provide more than the equipment itself.
We can help manufacturers evaluate their existing cleaning process, understand component and contamination requirements, assess whether aqueous cleaning is appropriate and develop the process around the PLW 8636.
This approach brings together equipment, chemistry, process knowledge and ongoing technical support to help manufacturers achieve a cleaning solution that works within their production environment.
